We're still waiting. The time between his breaths have gotten farther apart.
But he's still going. He always been a stubborn one.
We all didn't sleep well. It was hard to find a place to sleep. And now two new nurses who have never actually nursed dad are giving us problems for sitting outside his door.
Too bad- I'm not leaving.
Should be anytime now...
PS; mom's been reading all the comments and constantly asking to see if more have been written.

Hi Jessica,
ReplyDeleteYears ago, my step-dad went through a similar situation. Like you, we all sat with him as he went through his process. He was like your dad...very stubborn. I wondered at the time if he wouldn't pass because he was worried about my mom. One by one, we sat with him and told him how much we loved him and we all promised him we would take care of mom and it was okay for him to let go. It was so hard because as much as we knew he had to go, we wanted so much for him to stay. After we all talked to him, he took his final breath and passed away so peacefully. I really think he needed to know mom was going to be okay.
We are all thinking of you, your brother and mom and of course are sending your dad our love and thoughts. Take care of yourself Jessica and know that you are not alone.

Dearest Julie and Family,
ReplyDeleteIts so hard to know just what to say at a time like this. Its unfair that good and kind people who are so filled with love and laughter don't get to live on. There is a constant reminder to savour every day. I have so many wonderful memories of Jonathan, so many good laughs - the kind that come from deep inside. I remember when he met you and how deeply he fell in love with you and when Jessica and Jason were born. I remember Jonathan sitting and just staring at Jessica as a newborn. He was in total awe that he could have a hand in creating her and that she was so little. I remember vividly how Jonathan measured his hand against Jessica's and then against her tiny feet. My entire family is thinking of all of you. We are sending you our love and support. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. You have all shown incredible courage and inner strength.
Wendy~
My thoughts and prayers are with the whole family. Please know I am thinking of you all and with you in spirit.

Jessica,
ReplyDeleteYou and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. My son Louis has told me of your father's courageous struggle with this disease and the love and dedication all of you have shown him. I recently lost my sister to cancer and I know how difficult these final days can be. Be strong and remember the love all of you have for each will help you through these difficult days. You are truly a wonderful daughter.
Praying for your dad and your entire family.

Jessica and Jason,
ReplyDeleteWhat loving and brave young people you are, to show such devotion, while facing a terrible loss. I can only tell you the obvious -- Jonathan spoke of you every time I saw him, with love, pride, and often laughter. And I'm sure those are his thoughts even now, as he fades. He had the greatest fulfillment to see you become strong and independent personalities; it was a marvel to him, that you were confident and full of the ideas of life. His daily gifts of love will be with you always, and you can carry them wherever you go. Every small and large achievement in the coming years will honour him, and he'll know. -- Judith
Tell your mom that I haven't stopped thinking about you all for a second. Your dad is so lucky to have a great family like you and you are lucky to have such a great dad (sounds strange to say lucky but I believe it with all my heart)...you are brave, loving and amazing people. Peace to Jonathan Grossman and his family....he won't be sick in heaven and he will watch over you all from there. All my prayers...rachel
ReplyDeleteDear Grossman Family,
ReplyDeleteI've been following this blog so closely and I can't tell you what a comfort this has been to me as I wish I could comfort you in some way...so like Jonathan and Julie, being there for others even as they struggle through life's challenges.
My family and I send warm thoughts and prayers for peace and God's strength as you face today and the days to come.
Cathy.
To all the Grossman family, you are in my thoughts and prayers and have been for days.

Every morning we check Jessica's blog hoping for a miracle. We've read the wonderful warm words of your family and friends. This is a testament to what you and Jonathan built together. Be comforted. You are not alone. We will all be there for you.
